Traditional posters

  • Clear your topic with supervising athletic trainer
  • A standard 22" x 28" poster board
  • The title of the poster may be typed, drawn, stickers or stenciled
  • The body of the poster text must be typed with no less than 250 words and no more than 500 words. (Please do not write as a paper, must be poster lay-out)
  • The topic presented should be researched in at least two (2) professional publications with a bibliography (MLA format) displayed on front of poster
  • The poster must contain at least three graphics (photos, graphs, or charts) explaining the topic
  • The text and graphics (drawings are acceptable) must be glued or taped to the poster (no staples)
  • Place authors name, school and category on the back of the poster
  • Professional athletic trainers will check in posters at meeting.

The instructions are the same as the Beginning & Advanced posters except for the following:

  • The poster must be no larger than 4' x 6'
  • The text must be typed with no less than 250 and no more than 700 words
  • The presentation must be researched in at least four (4) professional publications with a bibliography
  • The poster will consist of one computer printed sheet ( no cut & paste, no background or matting)
  • Professional athletic trainers will check in posters at meeting.

judging criteria

  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Use of correct grammar and punctuation
  • Credibility of sources (Dictionary v. Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery) professional websites are acceptable (Physician and Sports Medicine)
  • Use of research materials for an in-depth presentation
  • Difficulty of topic
  • Creativity
At least one athletic trainer from the school must be a paid member of GHATS by day of workshop to win a poster in the contest. An exception is made for schools without a school based AT
