The “Robert H. Gunn Memorial Trophy”, as it was named in 1990, is named in honor of Mr. Bobby Gunn who was a pioneer in our profession and who has throughout his career has demonstrated a genuine love of our profession.  This award will be given each year to a GHATS member for their pursuit of excellence in Sports Medicine and distinguished service to the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers’ Society.

The “Tom Wilson Service Award”, as it was named in 1995, is named in honor of Mr. Tom Wilson who is a pioneer in our profession and who has throughout his career served our profession.  This award will be given each year to a GHATS member for their service to the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers’ Society.  

• Current Texas  Licensed Athletic Trainer, 
• Member of GHATS,
• Practicing Athletic Trainer, 
• 10 years experience, and
• Exhibited meritorious service to GHATS in the last 12 months.

Nominations must be in writing by GHATS member along with a short paragraph on why they deserve the award. All nominations must be postmarked by December 12th 2008.

The prestigious Logan Wood 25 Year Meritorious service award was started in 2005 and is named in honor of Mr. Logan Wood who was not only a pioneer in our profession, but is responsible for Texas becoming the first state to have Licensure for athletic trainers. This award in for an athletic trainer with at least 25 years of experience and is given to individuals that the board deems meritorious. The award is not given yearly.
